Designer Nataly Aponte
first launched in our New Designer Gallery at our last Spring show, and we were immediately drawn to the juxtaposition of the simplicity of her message–Start a Fire–and the complexity of her designs. Nataly’s collection continues to expand in couragous ways while also staying true to her brand identity, and her “trade show uniform” was so completely on point at this past Summer show that we’re certain she was getting as much attention off the floor as she was behind her booth!
JA New York: 5 words that best describe your brand DNA?
Nataly Aponte: Fire, Inspiration, Connection, Blaze, Brilliance.
JA New York: What’s your trade show uniform?
NA: A black, white and red combo, that’s bold and strong. These are the brand colors and vibe. If I showed up wearing a light colored cutesy floral print, I don’t think that would look on brand, and on fire visually. Right now I’m featuring a black blazer with shiny black beads in a check pattern, that mimics one of the engraved textures on my Matchstick Pendants. The blazer catches light, and sparkles when I move, and goes well with my displays, and intent. I either put a black or white t shirt underneath and black pants. My nails are white, lipstick is bright red, and hair is slicked up and curly. I’m very much into textures and layering. This uniform is flashy, but not distracting the displays or pieces that I have on. The merchandise is always the star!
JA New York: Go-to news source?
NA: My mom…we talk every morning about everything and everyone…
JA New York: Guilty pleasure?
NA: Dark chocolate not in moderation…
JA New York: Tech must-have?
NA: Phone charger and gold earbuds.
JA New York: Favorite Cities?
NA: New York City of course, I’m from there, it’s home, but, NYC and I had to breakup. I just moved outside LA to Long Beach California 2 months ago. I’m liking LA a lot so far. London, Dallas, Montreal, Palm Springs, Santa Fe and Sedona have always been inspiring places I’ve visited for different reasons.
JA New York: What’s your most prized possession?
NA: My Matchstick Ring. I feel solid with it on.
JA New York: If you had a Super Power it would be….?
NA: Time Travel…I’d like to go back in time to relive favorite moments and see if there’s any detail I missed.
JA New York: You have a one-way ticket, you’re going…?
NA: Out of this country. Probably Italy. I could use a giant glass of wine and pizza right about now.
JA New York: Won’t leave home without _____?
NA: A red lipstick in my purse.
JA New York: Dream celebrity client?
NA: Sporting a well tailored suit, Jack White would definitely light up the room wearing my Dark Star Matchstick Pendant.
