JA New York: How long have you been a jewelry designer?
Alexis Kletjian: I have always been a designer of things, but I shifted my focus full-time in 2014.
JA New York: What inspires your designs?
AK: Everything. I live in a constant state of ideas yelling at me through emotion and shape. Often, a new design is created for a particular gemstone, as seen in my signet rings, or inspired by a bygone era, such as the Victorian-inspired Lucky Star Collection.
JA New York: What are you most looking forward to about exhibiting in the New Designer Gallery?
AK: I am looking forward to the possibility of partnering with select retailers to bring a new level of experience to my collectors. And, I am excited to see all of my jewelry friends that are scattered throughout the US!
JA New York: What are you most nervous about (if anything?)
AK: Don’t laugh, well, you can, but I am nervous about needing (or wishing I had) a step stool to see over the showcase. I am petite, and sometimes it poses unusual worries…
JA New York: If you were forced to get a tattoo, what would it be and where?
AK: I would get a right arm sleeve, because when I commit to doing something, I’m all in.
